Le Corner Est, in the heart of Moka Smart City, is not just another mixed-use development. It’s a living skyline of retail energy, modern workspaces, residential comfort, and a premium penthouse framing the Port-Louis–Moka mountain range like a signature.
Back in 2018, Prodesign Engineering Consultants Ltd. was appointed to deliver MEP Consultancy and BIM Management for this landmark project, alongside Architects Studio and Limbada & Limbada Consulting Engineers Ltd. From day one, the objective was clear that was to reduce uncertainty early, coordinate smarter, and protect the project from the silent killers of time and budget; late clashes, rework, and on-site surprises.
So we changed the rhythm of the process.
Instead of waiting for coordination issues to reveal themselves on site, we brought the project to life in our BIM workflow and invited the entire stakeholder team into it, literally.
At Prodesign’s dedicated VR lab, we hosted immersive Virtual Reality coordination sessions with the ENL project team, guided by Project Manager Irfaan Khodabocus. In those sessions, stakeholders didn’t “review drawings”… they experienced the design at full scale, in context, in real time. The result was a different kind of decision-making:
- Clashes were discovered when they were still cheap to fix.
- Interfaces became clearer because everyone was looking at the same reality.
- Coordination shifted from reactive problem-solving to proactive risk elimination.
And then came one of the most interesting challenges which was the surface water management.
The requirement wasn’t only technical; it had to work flawlessly while blending seamlessly into the architectural and landscape intent. Through close coordination with the architectural team, we developed a solution that balanced performance with aesthetics, turning a typical “engineering problem” into an integrated design feature.
Today, Le Corner Est stands as proof of what happens when innovation is not an add-on, but a method, a way of working that improves clarity, speed, and quality for everyone involved.
Proud of the team, proud of the journey, and grateful to ENL and all project partners for the trust and collaboration that made this possible.
